I believe that literacy is a skill, not a subject, and that it is the core skill of every area of the curriculum. I help teachers to maximise this curiosity and develop a literacy ‘buzz’ about words in the classroom. I promote opportunistic teaching and learning as well as highly creative approaches to literacy lessons.
My name is Tim Dawson and I am a teacher and teacher trainer.
In June 2012 I launched Vermilion Education.
I specialise in highly motivating, relevant and tried and tested literacy training for teachers and classroom support staff. I am passionate about raising children’s attainment through an embedded, cross-curricular approach to literacy. I believe that motivated, confident children are taught and inspired by motivated, confident teachers.
I offer a free, no obligation consultation prior to your decision to book literacy training for your school. You might like to begin with one of the course outlines here on the website, then work with me to tailor it to your precise requirements.
My approach to training is practical, current, and accessible and I hope highly enjoyable - just as our teaching should be. You will receive full course notes and a set of electronic notes and resources full of useful materials to use in the classroom.
Finally, the feedback sheet is never the end of Vermilion training – I offer post-training support by email for all delegates.
Whether you are looking to develop talk, SPaG, reading comprehension, children’s writing or the profile of literacy in your school community, we can help, so talk to us first.
